Particulate Matter Analysis and Characterization

MTI has teamed with the University of North Dakota Institute for Energy Studies to provide enhanced sampling and characterization of particulate matter. All plant managers of combustion systems are concerned about challenges in meeting potential emission limits for particulate matter.

The Dekati Low Pressure Impactor (DLPI) is a state-of-the-art 13-stage cascade impactor for measuring gravimetric particle size distribution of very small particles. It size-classifies particles from 10 microns (µm) to 30 nm, and a filter stage accessory enables collection of particles smaller than 30 nm in diameter. The figure below shows the impactor and stages. The d50 cut points for sampling with the DLPI are shown in the table.
