Part-Time Research Assistant (10-20 hours per week)

We work with a variety of clients and are always looking for new ways to shape a cleaner future in the energy sector and beyond. By combining advanced scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-temperature physical testing, and computational modeling, MTI develops practical solutions to reduce downtime and operational challenges.

We are seeking a Part-Time Research Assistant to join our team beginning in October 2025. This position is ideal for students or early-career professionals with strong data science or coding skills who are interested in applying their expertise to energy and materials research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage databases for large technical datasets

• Perform data analysis and visualization to extract meaningful insights

• Contribute to algorithm development, testing, and optimization

• Apply machine learning/AI techniques to research problems

• Assist with interpretation of results and technical report writing

• Support project management activities as needed

Preferred Background:

• Current student or graduate in data science, computer science, engineering, physics, or chemistry

• Strong coding experience (Python, R, MATLAB, or similar)

• Familiarity with data science techniques (e.g., machine learning, neural networks, statistical modeling)

• Interest in applying computational methods to solve real-world energy and materials challenges

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
